What is Allergic rhinitis?
Hay fever is a common allergic reaction to pollen from trees, grasses, and weeds. It often occurs seasonally and can significantly affect daily life, sleep, and concentration.
Common Symptoms
You may experience:
Frequent sneezing
Runny or blocked nose
Itchy nose, throat, or ears
Red, watery, itchy eyes
Fatigue or disturbed sleep
🆘 Do NOT attend — seek emergency help (999 / A&E) if you have:

Severe difficulty breathing or breathlessness at rest

Swelling of lips, tongue, throat, or face

Wheezing or severe asthma attack not relieved by inhalers

Collapse, fainting, or severe dizziness

Signs of a severe allergic reaction (anaphylaxis)
⚠️ Do NOT attend — seek same-day GP / NHS 111 advice if you have:

High fever or feeling very unwell

Severe facial pain

One-sided facial pain or swelling

Persistent severe headache

Symptoms not improving despite regular treatment

New or worsening breathing problems (especially if you have asthma)

Self-Care Advice
Keep windows closed during high pollen days
Shower and change clothes after being outdoors
Wear sunglasses to reduce eye irritation
Avoid mowing grass or prolonged outdoor exposure during peak pollen times
